Forthcoming International Conference on “Strategic Materials in a Low-Carbon World: from Resource Scarcity to Availability”, scheduled for 2nd-3rd November 2017 in Oxford, UK

Interdisciplinary, innovative thinking is essential in tackling a key challenge of the 21st century: maintaining resource availability in the transition to a low-carbon world. This conference will stimulate broad, illuminating and cross-sector dialogue about the environmental, technical, socio-economic, and geopolitical aspects of resource scarcity and availability. Specifically, we will consider what the low carbon transition implies for materials demand; what the second order implications are for the extractive industries; and how circular economy principles, resource efficiency and recycling will play a key part in connecting supply and demand.

Speakers and attendees will share their academic, business, and policy expertise, challenge norms, and showcase opportunities for technological and societal solutions. The conference will be participatory and outcome-driven: we aim to inform, to foster new connections, and to drive action.
